Since 1991, Rebecca J. Benson has focused her practice on long-term care planning; estate planning for beneficiaries with special needs; guardianships and conservatorships; and advocating for nursing home, assisted living and CCRC residents.
Rebecca chairs the Long-Term Residents’ Rights Committee of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She has served as a member of the SJC’s Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee and as co-chair of the Elder and Disability Law Section of the Boston Bar Association. She also speaks on elder law and disability planning for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Harvard Medical School, and other audiences. She taught at the University of Massachusetts Boston’s Gerontology Institute and authored several works on elder and disability law. Before joining SNLG, Rebecca was Counsel to Margolis & Bloom, Staff Attorney with the Senior Citizens Law Project of Cambridge & Somerville Legal Services, and an Associate with Goulston & Storrs, PC.
Rebecca is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Academy of Special Needs Planners, and the Massachusetts Guardianship Association. She received her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School and her B.A. summa cum laude and M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
